Pandas DataFrame: Combining two series into a DataFrame
Pandas: DataFrame Exercise-39 with Solution
Write a Pandas program to combining two series into a DataFrame.
Sample data:
Data Series:
0 100
1 200
2 python
3 300.12
4 400
dtype: object
0 10
1 20
2 php
3 30.12
4 40
dtype: object
New DataFrame combining two series:
0 1
0 100 10
1 200 20
2 python php
3 300.12 30.12
4 400 40
Sample Solution :
Python Code :
import pandas as pd
import numpy as np
s1 = pd.Series(['100', '200', 'python', '300.12', '400'])
s2 = pd.Series(['10', '20', 'php', '30.12', '40'])
print("Data Series:")
print(s1)
print(s2)
df = pd.concat([s1, s2], axis=1)
print("New DataFrame combining two series:")
print(df)
Sample Output:
Data Series: 0 100 1 200 2 python 3 300.12 4 400 dtype: object 0 10 1 20 2 php 3 30.12 4 40 dtype: object New DataFrame combining two series: 0 1 0 100 10 1 200 20 2 python php 3 300.12 30.12 4 400 40

Python: Tips of the Day
Find current directory and file's directory:
To get the full path to the directory a Python file is contained in, write this in that file:
import os dir_path = os.path.dirname(os.path.realpath(__file__))
(Note that the incantation above won't work if you've already used os.chdir() to change your current working directory, since the value of the __file__ constant is relative to the current working directory and is not changed by an os.chdir() call.)
To get the current working directory use
import os cwd = os.getcwd()
Documentation references for the modules, constants and functions used above:
- The os and os.path modules.
- The __file__ constant
- os.path.realpath(path) (returns "the canonical path of the specified filename, eliminating any symbolic links encountered in the path")
- os.path.dirname(path) (returns "the directory name of pathname path")
- os.getcwd() (returns "a string representing the current working directory")
- os.chdir(path) ("change the current working directory to path")
