C Exercises: Determine the LCM of two numbers
C For Loop: Exercise-45 with Solution
Write a program in C to find LCM of any two numbers.
Pictorial Presentation:
Sample Solution:
C Code:
#include <stdio.h>
void main()
{
int i, n1, n2, max, lcm=1;
printf("\n\n LCM of two numbers:\n ");
printf("----------------------\n");
printf("Input 1st number for LCM: ");
scanf("%d", &n1);
printf("Input 2nd number for LCM: ");
scanf("%d", &n2);
max = (n1>n2) ? n1 : n2;
for(i=max; ; i+=max)
{
if(i%n1==0 && i%n2==0)
{
lcm = i;
break;
}
}
printf("\nLCM of %d and %d = %d\n\n", n1, n2, lcm);
}
Sample Output:
LCM of two numbers: ---------------------- Input 1st number for LCM: 15 Input 2nd number for LCM: 20 LCM of 15 and 20 = 60

C Programming: Tips of the Day
Static variable inside of a function in C
The scope of variable is where the variable name can be seen. Here, x is visible only inside function foo().
The lifetime of a variable is the period over which it exists. If x were defined without the keyword static, the lifetime would be from the entry into foo() to the return from foo(); so it would be re-initialized to 5 on every call.
The keyword static acts to extend the lifetime of a variable to the lifetime of the programme; e.g. initialization occurs once and once only and then the variable retains its value - whatever it has come to be - over all future calls to foo().
