Python List: Exercise - 264 with Solution

Write a Python program to create a two-dimensional list from given list of lists.

  • Use *nums to get the provided list as tuples.
  • Use zip() in combination with list() to create the transpose of the given two-dimensional list.

Sample Solution:

Python Code:

def two_dimensional_list(nums):
  return list(zip(*nums))
print(two_dimensional_list([[1, 2, 3], [4, 5, 6], [7, 8, 9], [10, 11, 12]]))
print(two_dimensional_list([[1, 2], [4, 5]]))

Sample Output:

[(1, 4, 7, 10), (2, 5, 8, 11), (3, 6, 9, 12)]
[(1, 4), (2, 5)]

Python: Tips of the Day

Find current directory and file's directory:

To get the full path to the directory a Python file is contained in, write this in that file:

import os 
dir_path = os.path.dirname(os.path.realpath(__file__))

(Note that the incantation above won't work if you've already used os.chdir() to change your current working directory, since the value of the __file__ constant is relative to the current working directory and is not changed by an os.chdir() call.)

To get the current working directory use

import os
cwd = os.getcwd()
